Blue Heater 2 Mounts from Old Horse to Boxes
Signia's free horse, then Scorching Sands, Cold Mount, and Infernal Wolf.
A mount is the first real upgrade in Blue Heater 2, and it is free. Signia’s Old Horse quest in Queens Town takes minutes, costs no bag slot, and spends no stamina while you ride. Press M to mount. That single hotkey is why veterans finish War Room boards before new players finish walking to Flywood. Do this during Getting Started, not after you “feel ready.” You were ready the moment you spawned.
Mounts are not companions. Companions are cosmetics with zero combat buffs, sold at the stand near Queenstown / Flywood and at Sunshine Town events. A ghost nun will not get you to Goat Herding faster. The horse will. Keep that split straight when a shop tries to sell you both. Companion details: Players.
Old Horse: the only first-hour mount that matters
- Spawn in Queens Town and skip the urge to fight a named camp.
- Find Signia at the stable. Some players remember the NPC as a Flywood-adjacent stable; the quest still starts at the horse stalls, not in Sunshine Town.
- Accept Old Horse. The text points you at an old watchtower / hill path.
- Face northeast along the hilltop path if the pointer is being shy. Look for the tall old building.
- Free the horse from the leash, return to Signia, turn in.
- Rewards are the Horse mount, a handful of coins, and a token of EXP. Press M.
- Ride to Saina, the weapon trainers, and every poster after that.
If M does nothing, open R and confirm the mount equipped. If you are still on foot in Middlebar, you did not finish the turn-in. The EXP is tiny on purpose; the time save is the reward. Controls lists M next to dash and block so you stop treating it as a hidden key.
Riding does not use stamina, so you arrive at slime packs with a full dash bar. Dismount before you pull Weeping Wyatt or Infernal Wolf. Fighting from the saddle is how you learn a boss the expensive way. The boss guide assumes you parked at the arena, not that you tried to trample Skeleton King.
Later mounts: boxes and the wolf
Old Horse stays valid through Floor 2. Upgrades are collectible boxes and a named wolf, not a second early quest you missed.
| Mount / box | When it shows up | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Old Horse | Queens Town, Signia, first hour | Default travel. Keep using it. |
| Scorching Sands box | Desert of Death (Floor 3) era | Dune Rider, Scorpion, Tyrodon — sand travel flex |
| Cold Mount Box | Silent Snowfields / Floor 2 collectibles | Snow themed ride after Skeleton King unlock |
| Infernal Wolf mount | Later collect tied to the wolf identity | Trophy ride; the Flywood wolf boss is a different fight |
Scorching Sands is a desert errand. If Floor 2 Goat Herding is unfinished, you do not need a scorpion. Beat Skeleton King, run the quest circuit in Silent Snowfields, then think about sand boxes while you work Desert of Death. Cold Mount Box is the snow equivalent — buy it when the currency is spare, not instead of Yriem / Zirik / Ulrer.
Infernal Wolf as a boss is a Flywood southside fight (Primal Champion and related drops). Infernal Wolf as a mount is a later collect. Do not stand in the wolf arena waiting for a saddle to drop on the first kill. Park the horse outside, kill the boss, then chase mount boxes on the floors that actually sell them.
None of these rides change the hotkey. M is M. None of them occupy inventory the way a crafting mat does. None of them spend the AGI bar. That is the entire mechanical pitch: faster locations with a full combat tank when you dismount.
How mounts change the session
Dailies: poster in Queens Town, poster in Middlebar, bounty in Sunshine Town. On foot that is an evening. On the horse it is a loop you can finish before Dracula. The leveling guide is built around that loop: Goat Herding is 100 Goatmans near Castle Ellem. The kill count is the work; the ride to Ellem is free if you already pressed M. Boss nights: every extra minute on the path is a minute the party waits and then invites a seventh person who inflates dungeon HP.
Lapin and Nekorata make unmounted movement nicer (free double jump, faster stamina regen). They do not replace a horse. Pick those races for their passives if you like them, but still do Signia. Race is permanent; the horse is a quest. See races if you were about to reroll just to “go faster.”
PVP and open-world team-up both benefit from showing up. A party that mounts between camps keeps the pack-clear bonus (Demon leech, Enlightened mana on kill) rolling instead of jogging on empty stamina. Official copy wants that team-up. Use it.
What not to spend on
- Do not skip Signia because a thumbnail sold a desert mount. You cannot farm Scorching Sands on day one.
- Do not confuse the companion stand with the stable.
- Do not wait for a code that mounts you automatically. There is no redeem UI.
- Do not sell or ignore the horse after you open a fancy box. Keep a travel mount you actually like to look at, because you will stare at it for hours of posters.
- Do not ride into a dungeon pull. Doors are for dismounts.
If your first session in Blue Heater 2 ends with M bound, posters chained across Queens Town and Flywood, and a plan for Cold Mount or Scorching Sands only after Skeleton King, you used mounts the way the game is built. If it ended on foot in the desert because the box looked cool, you still need Signia more than you need a scorpion.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Blue Heater 2 questions.
How do I get the first mount in Blue Heater 2?
Talk to Signia at the Queens Town stable, free the Old Horse on the hill, turn in, press M. The hour-one wrapper is Getting Started.
Do mounts use stamina or inventory?
No. That is why they beat walking. Stamina is for dash and double jump — see Controls.
When do I get Dune Rider, Scorpion, or Tyrodon?
From Scorching Sands boxes in the Desert of Death era (Floor 3). Unlock Floor 2 first via Skeleton King, mapped on Locations.
Is the Infernal Wolf mount the same as the Flywood boss?
No. The Flywood fight is an early boss. The mount is a later collect. Kill tactics sit on Bosses.
Are companions better than mounts?
No. Companions are cosmetics with no combat buffs. Mounts are travel. Read companions if you want the pet list anyway.
