Blue Heater 2 Controls

Blue Heater 2 plays like a light action RPG, not a click-to-move MMO. If you mash LMB and ignore stamina, you will eat every Flywood telegraphed slam and then blame the race. Learn the keyboard (or the matching mobile buttons) in Queens Town, then take that muscle memory into Getting Started quests. The map below is the desktop layout most players use. Mobile, console, and VR expose the same actions on different inputs; the stamina rules do not change.

Desktop key map

WASDMoveNoCamera-relative. Do not fight with the camera behind a tree.
SpaceJumpNoFirst hop is free.

EDashYesI-frame and reposition. Not a sprint key.
QSheathe / unsheatheNoPut the weapon away to run cleanly between packs.
FBlockNoShield or one-hand. Do not expect a two-hand to tank like a shield.

MMountNoOld Horse and later mounts. Mounts do not use inventory or stamina.
XWalkNoPrecision on cliffs, quest objects, and narrow dungeon ledges.

If a key does nothing, you are probably sheathed (Q) or sitting in the R menu. Unsheathe before you blame lag. If dash feels weak, check AGI and whether you already dumped the bar on a double jump. Nekorata’s +50% stamina regen makes dash-heavy kiting comfortable. Lapin makes vertical routes free. Neither race replaces a real damage passive — see the race tier list if you picked them only for movement.

Stamina is a combat resource

Treat stamina like a third bar next to HP and mana. Double jump plus dash plus another dash will empty you in one chase, and then the slime you were ignoring will finish the combo. In open Flywood, save dash for the attack you can see winding up. On cliffs and tower interiors, walk (X) instead of dash-jumping into a void. The locations guide is full of ledges that punish panic E.

AGI raises the stamina pool and how often you can dash. Physical DPS still wants STR and VIT first; do not dump the whole character into AGI because dash feels good. Crit Assassin (Fenris + dagger) is the build that actually wants AGI as a second or third stat so it can stay on a target after the kill-crit window. Mage Burst barely dashes — it spends FOC. Read Stats before you respec for “more mobility.”

Mounts are the other half of the stamina story. Press M the moment Signia’s Old Horse is done. Riding does not spend the dash bar, so you arrive at Saina’s slime field with a full tank. Dismount before you pull a named enemy; fighting from the saddle is not a strategy. Later boxes (Scorching Sands, Cold Mount Box, Infernal Wolf) change the model, not the hotkey. Details are on Mounts.

Strings, block, and skill slots

Unsheathe (Q), walk into range, then LMB. Canceling every swing with dash looks fast and does less damage. Let the string finish unless you are leaving a slam. Skills 1–4 are where your trainer quests pay off: sword and axe skills scale with STR, dagger and rapier skills with DEX, staff skills with INT. If a skill is grey, you lack the stat threshold the rework added — that is a builds problem, not a broken keybind.

Block (F) is for shield users and one-hand kits. Hold it for the obvious overhead, then drop it so you can attack. Blocking every animation is how you run out of stamina-adjacent patience and never kill Weeping Wyatt. Two-hand and staff players should dodge (E) instead of staring at F. Party play helps here: an Elf healer can cover the hit you failed to dash, but you still need to face the right way. The boss guide calls out which Flywood fights are slam-heavy versus projectile-heavy.

Mana is FOC’s job (3 mana per point after the rework). Enlightened refunds 5% mana per kill, which is why Staff plus Enlightened is the burst loop: dump 1–4, kill, refill, dump again. Physical kits still spend mana on skills. Leaving FOC at zero means your 1–4 row is a decoration. Sunshine Town Bleeder Bits let you fix that without deleting the character.

Platforms, camera, and common mistakes

On mobile, the same actions sit on on-screen buttons. Put dash where your thumb can hit it without covering LMB. On console, map dash to a bumper you can press while aiming. VR inherits the same stamina rules; a wide swing still costs the animation. Shift lock (when present) is worth turning on for Skeleton King and other large hitboxes so LMB does not slide off the model.

Common first-hour mistakes: dashing as a sprint between towns (use M), double jumping until empty then pulling a pack, forgetting Q so you jog with a greatsword out, binding four skills from four different trainers, and never opening R to check that the mount actually equipped. Fix those before you worry about Floor 2.

Practice the loop on Saina’s slimes, then on Benedict’s giant slime, then on a named Flywood camp. If you can dash one slam, block or sidestep the next, and still have stamina to leave, you are ready for the quest route and the leveling guide. Controls do not get a second tutorial on Floor 3. The desert and Lotus Lands assume you already spend E on purpose.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Blue Heater 2 questions.

How do I mount in Blue Heater 2?

Finish Signia's Old Horse quest in Queens Town, then press M. Mounts do not use inventory or stamina. Full steps are on Mounts.

Why can't I dash or double jump anymore?

The stamina bar is empty. Wait, invest AGI, or pick Nekorata / Lapin on a new character. See Stats and the race list.

Does F block work with every weapon?

Block is for a shield or a one-hand. Two-hand and staff users should dash (E) instead. Practice the difference before Flywood bosses.

Where do skills 1–4 come from?

Weapon trainers and early NPCs such as Gina. Follow Getting Started and the quest list so you do not mix four unrelated schools.

Is the keyboard layout the same on mobile and console?

The actions are the same; the buttons change. Stamina, mount (M on desktop), and skill costs do not. Learn the rules here, then apply them on the locations you actually farm.
